Abstract:
The present disclosure refers to 2D material based porous composite as electrocatalyst for improved hydrogen evolution under magnetic field. Various 2D materials  with high conductivity such as graphene, MXene, metal chalcogenides are selected and used for composite formation with one or more ferromagnetic/ paramagnetic  material among metal oxides, suphides, phosphides and metal doped oxides and sulphides. Ratio of ferromagnetic/ paramagnetic materials to 2D material in the  composite maintained within 99:1 to 1:1 plays an important role in deciding the final composition of electro catalyst. Prepared composite is finally deposited on a metal  foam or conducting substrate by known techniques to prepare the electrode for electrochemical water splitting.
