35 HP Tractor SONALIKA

With continuous demand of tractors for farm mechanization CMERI developed design know-how of 35 hp Tractor and released the know-how to M/s International Tractors Limited, Hoshiarpur for commercialization as Sonalika Tractor. The tractor is suitable for medium and large land holdings.

The Sonalika Tractor received CSIR Technology Prize for Engineering Technology in 2003 for designing, detail engineering and developing a fuel efficient, eco-friendly tractor indigenously. The tractor has high export potential too.

Impact of the present technological innovation on the India’s competitiveness is significantly high. M/s. ITL exports tractors to South Africa, Australia, Zimbabwe, Sri Lanka, Canada, Bangladesh, Algeria, Zambia, Senegal, Ghana etc., Demand of Sonalika tractor is now found in many places throughout the world including South America.

The key attributes of 35 HP tractor developed by CSIR-CMERI were zero-defects, load compensated hydraulic system for smooth and non-jerky movement of mounted implements with respect to the soil level, mechanical power transmission, and synchromesh gear box for easier operation. It helped reduce drudgery even more by easier farming (mounting and controlling implements) operations due to the load compensated hydraulic system, enhanced timeliness as repairs were minimized due to zero defects, and higher yields due to user-friendly mechanization.

35 HP TRACTOR was transferred exclusively on 4 June, 1999 to International Tractors Limited (ITL), Hoshiarpur.  Assignment Deed was renewed w.e.f. 11 July, 2022 to 12 July, 2032 for a further period of 10 years.
