| Abstract: | The present invention relates to a solvent and catalyst free process to obtain high molecular weight polycaprolactone of formula (I). Specifically, the present invention relates to a method of obtaining polycaprolactone (PCL) using L-lysine amino acid as initiator for ring opening polymerization and introduction of functionality to the PCL backbone for improvement of surface characteristics.
