Abstract:
The present invention relates to a solvent and catalyst free process to obtain high molecular weight polycaprolactone of formula (I). Specifically, the present invention  relates to a method of obtaining polycaprolactone (PCL) using L-lysine amino acid as initiator for ring opening polymerization and introduction of functionality to the  PCL backbone for improvement of surface characteristics. In addition, the synthesis of 3D printable and functional PCL is suitable for biomedical applications. (I)  wherein, R is a backbone of amino acid having two amine groups; and n = 85 to 400.
