Issue Date: 12-11-2008 File Date: 28-02-2003
Inventor(s): Radhakrishn Chennur Reddy; Om Prakash Maish; Kuruppanan Eswaran; Gure Rajakrishna Kumar; Pushpito Kumar Ghosh 6Peddi Venkata Subba Rao 7Kalpana Haresh Mody
IPC Classification: A01G33/00
Abstract:
The present invention provides a method of an improved process for cultivation of algae, including development of a fast growing variety which overcomes the decreased growth in polythene bag and yield biomass similar to that grown in open cultures without a bag. Further, semi-refined carrageenan yield and quality of the plants developed from tissue culture were similar to the control parent plant. Also describes a methodology for clonal propagation of micro-propagules on large scale through somatic embryogenesis of pigmented callus cells.
