Abstract: The present invention relates to a process for the recovery of valuable metal compounds from spent neodymium-iron-boron magnets  of wind turbines. The chloridizing roasting followed by water leaching method has been applied for selective recovery of rare earths  from waste NdFeB magnet. In the present invention, NH4CI is used as additive for chloridizing roasting process. In the applied  method, rare earths selectively recovered by roasting the magnet powder at much lower roasting temperature and also, avoided the  usage of concentrated acids in leaching process. The method is useful to produce mixed rare earth oxide of Neodymium,  Praseodymium and Dysprosium of 99% purity from the leach liquor. The invention is also useful for the recovery of iron oxide  powder which has large Application and high market value.
