Abstract:
The present invention provides a solar distillation apparatus for distilling the volatile fractions comprising a solar panel [10] connected to a steam generation tank [1] for circulating the solar energy current through resistive heating element [12] for water heating to generate steam vapor, a plant holding tank [3] with a mesh possessing openings [3i] for steam injection and holding small, medium or large volume of raw material for extraction, a condenser assembly [5] embedded with oil collection cum reflux line assembly [4] for providing desired condensation to the essential oil vapor, while providing complete visibility of collecting the essential oil; a purge assembly [9] for the removal of unwanted gases; wherein; the steam generated through solar energy is injected through small openings of mesh in the plant holding tank [3] by which the temperature is achieved to extract the volatile high purity essential oil; wherein the volatile essential oil vapor stream is directed to the condenser [5] embedded with oil collector cum reflux line [4]; wherein the high purity essential oil being immiscible in water easily separates out as an upper layer and the essential oil gets easily collected in the collection assembly [4].

  • The apparatus reduces the rate of essential oil degradation by avoiding the overheating of the essential oil, as it is continuously being cooled down and collected in the new condenser design.

  • excess water mixture collected in the condenser is continuously being recycled through the reflux line to the holding tank making this apparatus more energy efficient
