| Abstract: | An improved vertical shaft kiln comprising a cylindrical housing for clinker bed, charge inlet means provided in the housing, a rotary discharge grate at the bottom end of the housing, an air inlet means through the said grate, a centrally located chimney at the top of the housing, a central guidehood connecting the interior of the housing to the said chimney for discharge of the products of combustion, characterized in that the said air inlet means is in the form of an air distribution means within the grate and that a rotary hopper is provided around the said guidehood for the charge inlet. | ||
