| Abstract: | This method describes the construction of multi directional underpass intersection using box jacking with soil nailing. The soil nailing is provided to prevent the soil from excessive vertical as well as lateral deformation of overburden and main box underpass face soil. However, in the case of side underpass, the soil nailing is provided only on the box tunnel face. The underpass is constructed across (main) as well as the parallel to the existing rail/road live traffic line. In this method, large size box segments which are pushed across the live rail/road line have the provision of the side underpasses construction. The side (parallel) underpasses which are smaller compare to the main underpass are pushed through it using the same method of box jacking and soil nailing as used in case of main underpass. | ||
