| Abstract: | The present invention relates to a bipolar membrane (BPM) composed of an anion exchange layer and cation exchange layer with the specific solvent selectivity for acid-alkali production from corresponding salts. The bipolar membrane is prepared by layer-by-layer solution casting method in a way such that both layers are firmly attached to each other. The effect of anion exchange layer reduction in thickness in bipolar membrane electrodialysis experiments is examined. The incorporation of a water dissociation catalyst reduces the water spitting potential and gives better current efficiency. |
