| Abstract: | The current innovation relates to the development of a dry process-based method and apparatus for the treatment of wollastonite feed having starting chemical composition of CaSiO3 content below 79% and Fe2O3 content above 7% to produce the final wollastonite product having product composition of CaSiO3 content above 95% and Fe2O3 content below 0.5%. The present process consists of two stages of processing which includes pre-processing the wollastonite ore to remove the unwanted impurities (such as calcite, iron oxides, etc.) in the first stage, whereas treating the pre-processed wollastonite ore in a newly developed apparatus to separate wollastonite (needle-shaped particles) from freely associated calcite and silica (granular-shaped particles) in the second stage. |
