Title:

A Dual Band Shared Aperture Antenna for Aircraft

Value Proposition:

In the fast growing world of wireless communications, there is a need of a communication system, which is capable of radiating, and receiving multiple bands, so that antenna when matched with communication system could radiate multiple bands. The requirement of miniaturization and integration of antenna on communication systems, more precisely to aerospace systems leads to insufficient space because of the large number of equipment's used by them. This can be overcome by designing antennas using same aperture, i.e., by realizing aperture sharing antennas.

Summary Application:

Electronics – Defence and Aerospace Industries

Shared aperture antennas can offer dual or multi bands, which fulfils requirements of limiting cost of device, and enhancing integration with device. Present invention focuss on above by providing shared aperture antennas for aircraft applications.

Advantages:
  • Shared aperture antenna is capable of transmitting or receiving multiple bands
specifically VHF and MODE-S covering from 118-137 MHz and 960-1220 MHz.
  • Solves the problem of use within limited space
  • Uses low loss dielectric substrate
  • Low aerodynamic drag and less weight
  • Lower cost and Complexity
