Abstract:
A fluorescent material for ratiometric and gaseous phase sensing of VOC. The present invention discloses an Eu-based MOF, composition thereof and a method of  developing MOF by functionalizing 2-D sheets of g-C3N4 for use as structure directing ligand. Specifically, the present invention relates to MOF composition of Eu3+  metal ion, MoS2 - benzoic acid functionalized g-C3N4 composite and terephthalic acid, where g-C3N4 plays the role of structure directing ligand and terephthalic acid  as co ligand. The ligand system helps in attainment of ?antenna effect? due to which the MOF exhibited dual emission behavior. The present invention of MOF particles  possessing dual emission showed ratiometric and very selective fluorescence sensing of environmental toxin 1,4-dioxane. The limit of detection in liquid phase is  calculated be 0.3 ?M or 0.026 ppm. In addition to this, the MOF exhibited very good response to the presence of dioxane vapour by change in current vs. voltage  characteristic graph. Hence, the present invention relates to the development of MOF suitable for sensing of dioxane both in liquid and vapour phase.
