| Abstract: | Present invention provides a green process for recycling of pharmaceutical blister via confined wet chemical process triggered delamination of aluminium and plastic layers and their recovery. In a typical process, the waste pharmaceutical blisters (WBPs) [thermoformed thermoplastic cavity based on PVC, PVDF, PET, PP, cyclic olefins or their sandwiched combinations and a sealing/capping layer of aluminium foil] of pre decided size [complete strip or sheared/shredded pieces of decided size range] have been treated with a specific liquid medium [combination of organic reagents like toluene, chloroform, THF, DMSO, DMF etc] by agitation for specified time [5-50 mins] and at specified temperature [40-60oC] inside a closed reactor, ultimately affecting the delamination of aluminium and plastic fractions of WBPs by selective etching/dissolution of the binder layer sandwiched between the two, thus ensuring very high recovery rates, reduced loads on materials reserves, energy savings, waste to wealth realization, maintenance of circular economy and reduced carbon footprints. |
