Abstract:
A Kit for The In Vitro Detection of Antibiotic Resistance Profile of Bacterial Community from Clinical Samples The present invention provides a kit comprising a  modified PVDF based membrane, which incorporates a variety of carbon sources such as glucose, fructose, sucrose along with a tetrazolium dye, and antibiotic  solution. The modified membrane enables the detection of bacterial communities and their corresponding antibiotic resistance profiles in clinical samples. The process  involves incubating the contaminated clinical sample with an antibiotic solution for a specific duration, after which the susceptible bacteria are killed and the resistant  bacteria remain viable. If the bacterial community is resistant to a particular antibiotic, the addition of the modified membrane results in a color change to pink; no  change occurs if the community is susceptible. The time taken for the color change is inversely proportional to the bacterial count. This invention facilitates the  detection of bacterial communities and antibiotic resistance profiles quickly and easily from any clinical samples.
