| Abstract: | The present disclosure relates to an apparatus enabled for characterizing a pneumatic artificial muscle actuator in isobaric, isometric and axial load conditions. The apparatus includes a horizontal cylinder chamber (101), a vertical measuring cylinder (102), a pneumatic artificial muscle actuator (105), an inextensible multistrand steel wire (112) routed through a load cell (119) driven by a DC geared motor, an inlet polyurethane tubing (110) to supply pressurized air to pneumatic muscle actuator (105) and a laser displacement sensor (124) to measure the change in volume. The present disclosure further provides a method for characterizing the pneumatic muscle actuator in isobaric, isometric and axial load condition along with measurement of volume of air inside pneumatic muscle actuator by employing a conventional water displacement technique. The present disclosure provides apparatus and method for three different types of characterization of pneumatic actuators finding its application in fields of robotics, automation, medical and the like. | ||
