| Abstract: | The present invention relates to a to a new process technology for the extraction, enrichment and simultaneous production of four withanolides (withanoside-IV, withaferin-A, withanolide-A and withanone) of formulae (1) from Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) and other plants and products therefrom. The process comprises preparation of most suitable homogeneous binary/ ternary/ quaternary/ tetra mixture of deep eutectic solvent (DES) as extractant characterized by brix degree; preparation of de-chlorophyll withanolides rich extract from dry/fresh roots/leaves/stem of cultivated/wild varieties of W. somnifera, using aforesaid DES solution by hot/ultrasonic extraction; enrichment with organic solvent probably ethyl acetate/ chloroform by trituration/liquid-liquid partitioning ; and simultaneous isolation of withanoside-IV, withaferin-A, withanolide-A and withanone of appreciable purity by flash chromatography in a single run without additional step of purification. These withanolides are having pharmacological/ therapeutic/ cosmeceutical significance with anti-Alzheimer, anti-stress, and neuroprotective and bone formation activities. |
