| Abstract: | Present disclosure discloses a method of manufacturing a dual phase steel component. The method includes directing a leading energy beam on to a surface of a substrate through a nozzle. The leading energy beam generates a melt pool on the substrate. Further, the method includes feeding a low alloy steel powder feedstock into the melt pool. Furthermore, the method includes solidifying molten low alloy steel powder feedstock to form a layer of the steel component. Additionally, the method includes forming consecutive layers of the steel component by directing, the leading energy beam on to a solidified layer of the steel component, where the leading energy beam generates a melt pool in the solidified layer, feeding the low alloy steel powder feedstock into the melt pool and solidifying the molten low alloy steel powder feedstock, to form the steel component having a dual phase microstructure with ferrite and martensite. |
