| Abstract: | The present invention relates to a multifunctional flotation reagent and a process for the preparation thereof from waste coal tar. The fractional distillation process is carried out with the collected waste coal tar to a maximum temperature upto 360 0C to separate different distillate fractions from the waste tar. The distillate fraction of boiling range 230 0C - 300 0C is isolated and necessary treatments are done with NaOH solution and then with H2SO4 solution to obtain the multifunctional flotation reagent. The developed reagent shows a dual character having collecting property as well as frothing property. The invented reagent is very useful to beneficiate high ash & difficult-to-float and dumped & oxidized coking coal fines including ultra-fines coals. | ||
