| Abstract: | A nanocomposite cement-based temperature sensor for embedded sensing, continuous measurement comprising nanocomposite cement-based matrix, two copper electrodes. The temperature sensor has been developed by evenly distribution of carbon fibers/tubes in cement matrix. The temperature sensor has the beneficial characteristics: base material of the sensor is cement composite which is robust, perforated sheet electrodes (with particular perforation details and geometry) that very stable and accurate signal with low noise, works on the thermoresistive behaviour, self-sensing capability, enabled to monitor the temperature when embedded into the structure. The electrical properties measured between the two electrodes serve as an indicator of the temperature variation. The cement-based temperature sensor has negative temperature coefficient. The cement-based material imparts robustness and low cost, customized electrical conductivity offers adequate voltage change, and embedded functionality provides long-term durability. | ||
