| Abstract: | Poor nutritional quality of food is a global concern. Insufficiency of nutritional quality in food causes several human health problems. The continuing growth of the world population will substantially increase the demand for meeting the hunger needs of the growing population. The major challenge behind the reduced agricultural crop yield and nutrition quality is biotic and abiotic stresses due to which there is an increased need for extensive fertilizers and pesticides to overcome stress and increase productivity. Due to these reasons, there is the utmost requirement to produce novel, safe, and alternative methods without the use of tissue culture to enhance important characteristics in agronomic plants. Here we show that the exogenous application of synthetic peptides (complementary peptide) from key transcription factor of the phenylpropanoid pathway enhances protein accumulation and modulate associated function which is the accumulation of flavonols and anthocyanin in Arabidopsis, tobacco, and tomato as well as agronomically/economically important crops like rose and grapes. |
