| Abstract: | The invention pertains to a Plug-in modular functional device embedded with an electrode assembly for the treatment of pharmaceutical/industrial wastewaters. The invention provides electrochemical treatment along with biological treatment to address the challenges posed by complex industrial/chemical wastewater. The developed device presents an efficient and scalable solution for the treatment of complex organic and inorganic pollutants through bio- electrocatalytic process. It is able to achieve color removal (89.75%), COD removal (90.4%), TOC removal (90.4%), TN removal (53.74%), Amine removal (67.67%), Azo reductase activity (37.9 U). The invented device can be embedded/integrated to biological unit operation of the existing effluent treatment plants (without modification) or with a new ETP design to intensify the removal of organics and inorganics from chemical wastewater. The device improves performance of treatment in terms of carbon (COD/TOC) removal, Nutrients removal, colour removal and TDS removal by 15-35% augmented efficiency based on the nature of wastewater being treated. | ||
