| Abstract: | A portable terahertz (THz) imaging system having two laser modules (1, 2), fiber splitter-combiner (3), signal generation module (4), terahertz continuous wave source (5), in-house developed and optimized - terahertz optics module (6), terahertz detector (7), lock-in amplifier (8), microcontroller (9), touch-screen display (10), sample holder (11), two-dimensional motorized translation stages (12), distributed feedback (DFB) laser (13), a heat sink (14), laser driver (15), thermoelectric (TEC) controller (16), first pair of lenses (17), another pair of plano-convex lenses (18), packaged terahertz non-destructive system (19), optical window (20), single point on the sample (21). All system components are electronically controlled through a user-friendly graphical interface. The reflected intensities are plotted in real-time as a terahertz image. The system is rugged and suitable for a wide range of applications spanning from industrial non-destructive evaluation, security screening, postal inspection, food quality testing, cancer margin assessment, biological imaging, microplastic identification, porosity estimation, etc. |
