| Abstract: | The present invention relates to developing a simple, cost-effective and green approach to structure-controlled heterostructures consisting of heteroatom-doped graphene nanosheets supported on bismuth ferrite using low-cost hydrothermal process for water splitting under visible light irradiation at room temperature. Control morphologies of the heteroatom doped graphene nanosheets (GNS) bismuth ferrite (BFO) heterostructures achieved by low-cost hydrothermal process. Doping of heteroatom on the surface of graphene allows tuning the band gap of bismuth ferrate in the range of 2.05 to 2.2 eV resulting in good visible light absorption and highly efficient for solar-to-chemical energy H2 conversion via photocatalytic water splitting. The heteroatom doped graphene nanosheets supported BFO heterostructures are useful as photoanode for photoelectrochemical water splitting and green hydrogen (H2) production. |
