| Abstract: | The present inventors have found that under conditions of monomeric AlCl3 in the reaction medium, it is possible that with a minimum amount of AlCl3 in the isomerization reaction of Endo-THDCPD to Exo-THDCPD, obtained product purity for Exo-THDCPD (99.2%) was better than the purity required for JP-10 (98.5%). Specifically, the present inventors have confirmed the optimum reaction conditions, temperature (23.5 degree C), 1 wt% of AlCl3, 500 RPM stirring speed and 1 hour reaction time for the above-said reaction Endo-THDCPD to Exo-THDCPD. Scale-up of the process is also confirmed by the experiments. The product purity was similar after the scale-up. |
