Abstract: The dihydropyran compound is a synthetically useful chemicalthat has potential application in flavours, fragrances, and pharmaceuticals. The present invention relates  to the process for the preparation of dihydropyran compounds derived from aromatic aldehydes and isoprenol/isopulegol. The process utilizes a heterogeneous solid  acid catalyst to achieve a high yield and selectivity of dihyropyran compounds without using any external additives. The catalyst was also found to be easily separable  from the reaction mixture and recyclable for four times with retention of its activity.
