| Abstract: | The present invention relates to an improved process for the production of tetrahydrofuran (THF) from 1,4-butanediol (BDO). The present invention also relates to batch and continuous process of production of tetrahydrofuran (THF) from 1,4-butanediol (BDO) using a heterogeneous acidic catalyst. The process of the present invention shows the complete conversion of butanediol with a high yield of tetrahydrofuran and is highly cost-effective. |
