| Abstract: | A process of producing Bio-Bitumen from Pyrolysis of Lignocellulosic Biomass having steps of: a) produce bio-oil by using a laboratory scale auger-type pyrolysis unit from the pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass pellets. b) heating reactor from 400°C to 550°C temperature and monitor at six points along the length of the reactor. c) removing the vapors from the reactor using centrifugal blower. The vapors are condensed by using four condensers connected in series. d) separating the organic and aqueous fraction from bio-oil obtained from pyrolysis process and the organic fraction used for the preparation of bio bitumen. e) Collecting char after cooling overnight in char collection vessel. f) blending the bio-oil (35%) with petroleum based hard pitch and lime-based additives to produce bio bitumen which showed the properties of VG-40 bitumen with enhanced moisture and ageing resistance of bio-bitumen. The VG-40 bitumen with 15% bio-oil, 30% lime showed properties of VG- 10. |
