Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a recombinant vector. Particularly, the present disclosure relates to a recombinant vector to overexpress 4-coumarate Co- enzyme A ligase 11 gene (4CL11) in plant cells. Further, the present disclosure relates to a binary expression vector comprising a pRI101AN vector with the 4CL11  ORF sequence from Ocimum kilimandscharicum and regulatory elements for overexpressing host 4CL11 gene in plant cells results in accumulation of flavonoids  (kaempferol and quercetin as well as their glycoside derivatives), altered lignin content, increased natural product biosynthesis that eventually leads reduced auxin  levels and decreased expression of auxin transport and signaling genes, causing reduced root growth.
