| Abstract: | The present invention relates to an emulsion having stability in a pH range of 4 to 9 and a temperature range of 20 to 60 degree C. The said emulsion is prepared from a surfactant composition comprising sodium dodecyl sulfate, cetyltrimethylammonium bromide, one among poly(ethylene glycol) tert-octylphenyl ether and poly(ethylene glycol) lauryl ether, and 1,6-bis(N,N-hexadecyldimethylammonium)adipate cocogem. Treating tanned hides with the developed emulsions results in leathers that are soft, filled, abrasion-resistant, blade-cut-resistant, stitch-tear-resistant, and puncture-resistant. This combination of properties makes them ideal for fat liquoring applications. |
