| Abstract: | The present invention relates to a leather-based protective glove designed for use in extreme cold climates, such as in high-altitude climbing expeditions, polar expeditions, winter outdoor work, sports, cold storage, and healthcare applications such as cryotherapy and cryosurgery. The said glove comprises an outer component and an inner component. The outer component features a cold-resistant light-weight leather in the palm and finger regions, providing enhanced grip, dexterity, and water vapor permeability. In the remaining regions, a first synthetic fabric is used to ensure flexibility and insulation. The inner component consists of an outer layer made of a second synthetic fabric, an insulation layer composed of a third synthetic fabric, and an inner lining layer made of a first synthetic fur. The insulation layer is seamlessly fused, while the other layers are stitched together to form a cohesive inner component. Additional features of the glove include the attachment of hook-and-loop fasteners near the opening for secure closure and an elastic string added to the cuff for a secure grip on the user. The leather-based protective glove of the present invention exhibits exceptional thermal insulation (0.283 ± 0.009 m2K/W), cold-resistance (an insulation against cold at -50 °C of 11.93 ± 2.87 °C), and dexterity (level V). |
