Abstract:  A vaporizer formulation has been prepared using essential oil of Ocimum  sanctum (CIM-Ayu). The formulation of the oil is useful as disinfectant of the rooms, and as a component for the exposure of the  utensils and other essential commodities. In the vapor phase, the formulation is highly effective against pathogens, especially bacteria,  at a relatively lower concentration compared to the liquid phase. Eugenol has been revealed to be the major active ingredient (~60%)  of the oil. The vaporizable formulation is also found to be non-allergenic, non-mutagenic, non-toxic and non-irritant.
