Title:

Aggrandizing the Mechanical Behaviour and Environmental Benefit of Rigid Pavement Using Imperial Smelting Furnace Slag (ISFS)

Value Proposition:
  1. Enhancement in the strength of the rigid pavement when ISF slag is used as a substitute of fine aggregates in the mix design of DLC layer and PQC layer of the pavement.
  2. The system as claimed in claim 1, wherein fine aggregate is replaced by ISF slag up to 100% thereby enhancing pavement durability depending upon the extent of replacement of fine aggregate by ISF slag in the DLC layer and PQC layer of the rigid pavement.
  3. Cost benefit due to addition of ISF slag in Rigid pavement is claimed.
Summary Application:
  • Solution for safe disposal of ISF slag (waste generated from Zinc & Lead Industry)
  • Effective utilization of ISF slag in road construction, thereby, preserving the natural aggregates resources.
Advantages:
  • Conservation of natural fine aggregates and energy utilized in processing and production of fine aggregates.
  • Use of ISF slag in rigid pavement showed no hazardous impact on the environment as per preliminary assessment.
  • The incorporation of ISF Slag in rigid pavement renders economy in comparison to the conventional mix.
