Carnation (Dianthus caryophyllus L.) is a high value cut-flower crop that ranks among top ten cut-flowers in the world. Carnations are known for their fragrance, different colors and forms. These are suitable for protected cultivation in the mid hills region.

The global trade market for Carnations for is estimated at USD 100 million presently.

Considering the demand and high commercial value for Carnations, CSIR-IHBT has developed agro-technology protocols to produce cut flowers with following features
