| Abstract: | An apparatus for making multiple indexed cross slitting operations on a work piece is disclosed here. The apparatus consists of multiple slitting cutters depending on the number of slitting operations required, position in a circular manner in a frame and all the cutters rotate simultaneously. A circular disk which is positioned at the centre of all the cutters has a number of job holders positioned on the periphery of it. The circular disk is continuously rotating at a constant speed and simultaneously the loading and unloading are performed manually. After one slitting operation the work piece is indexed automatically using a cam for next slitting. A prototype with two slitting cutters and eight job holders on the circular disk is fabricated and tested for cross slitting of hammer type anchor bolt. It was found that the slitting operation time per anchor bolt is reduced substantially from 13sec to 7.7 sec. The present invention is also capable of handling variable size anchor bolts that reduces the investment cost of manufacturer. |
