| Abstract: | Rice bran lyso-gums is a new class of by-product obtained during degumming of crude rice bran oil using bio-catalyst. Presently, this particular by-product is having very limited applications and is fetching negligible value to the industry. On the other hand, it contains lyso -phospholipids which has known applications in food, surfactant, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries. The present invention relates to processes for possible value addition to crude rice bran lyso-gums- an unexplored by-product of rice bran oil refinery. It describes efficient processes for possible upgradation, modification, enrichment and purification of crude rice bran lyso-gums to obtain lyso-PC enriched rice bran lyso-lecithin having lighter colour by using various unit operation like drying, bleaching, solvent fractionation and chromatographic separation techniques in sequential manner. |
