As an underwater corrosion component.

Advantages:
  • The multiphase steel comprising of martensite, austenite and bainite having high resistance against erosion due to silt impingement and cavitation can be employed as underwater components in hydroturbines.
  • The alloy will have higher impact toughness values both at room temperature and sub-zero temperature.
  • This alloy will have higher cavitation resistance compared to the cast 13%Cr-4%Ni stainless steel.
