 Technology Profile

Title:

Anacardic Acid Technology

Value Proposition:

Increases cotton fibre yield and quality.

Summary Application:

India tops the world in having largest area under cotton cultivation. However, the yield of cotton in India is destitute being 500 Kg/ha compared to the country like Brazil which has cotton yield about 2000 Kg/ha. Thus, innovative technologies are needed to improve yield in India which will be a direct benefit to the farmer. A formulation has been developed which improves cotton yield. Multi-location trials in different cotton growing states showed 10-15% increase in yield of popular cotton hybrids. This formulation also brings earliness in boll bursting. It works by augmenting actions of phyto-hormones involved in cotton boll development.

Advantages:
  • Technology promises at least 10% increase in cotton yield that will contribute to Rs. 2000-5000/hectare increase in the income of a farmer.
  • Formulation leads to earliness in cotton production that will help farmers to prepare land for next crop, and this will be substantial especially in North Indian states like Punjab.
  • Earliness will also help in better pest and resource management for farmers.
  • Easy application.
