| Abstract: | The present invention relates to an anti-cancer composition from waste root biomass of Simarouba Glauca (WRB-SGL) and the integrated process for the preparation of multiple valuable products such as anti-cancer composition [solid crude aqueousmethanolic root extract (SCr-AqMeREx)], cellulose and nanocellulose from waste root biomass of Simarouba glauca (WRB-SGL).In order to utilise the waste root biomass of Simaruba gluca to the maximum extent, the developed process first recover the crude aqueous methanolic root extract (Cr-AqMeREx) followed by concentrating and lyophilising to obtained SCr-AqMeREx. The SCr-AqMeREx thus obtained exhibits anticancer activity in in vitro and in vivo approaches; while the root residue left after SCr-AqMeREx is superior raw material for the production of cellulose, thereby enhancing the value of waste root biomass. Moreover, SCr-AqMeREx was found to be biocompatible and did not affect proliferative ability of mesenchymal stem cells- cells that give rise to cells / tissues of multiple origin. |
