Chrome-Melamine Syntan

Melamine-chrome complex comprising imine groups.

A novel melamine-chrome complex for leather processing is provided which is a metal based synthetic tanning agent having ability to enhance the thermal and physical resistance of the hide/skin when used in tanning. it acts as a tanning agent as well as retanning agent. The process for the preparation of the melamine-chrome complex is also given.

• In addition to rechroming, filling of the looser portions like belly is possible.
• Chromium-melamine condensate devoid of formaldehyde as cross linker.
• Ideal replacement to formaldehyde based condensed products employed for retanning and other industrial applications.
• Due to the presence of large number of hydroxyl groups, it provides additional binding sites for fixation of chromium as well as other organic molecules such as dyes.
