Selenium has emerged as a water pollutant of concern over a few years in Indian states, including Punjab and Haryana. The determination of selenium (Se) has garnered increasing interest because of its importance to life as a nutrient element and its toxicological effects. Herein, a simple multimodal colorimetric method was developed to detect selenium. The designed method showed insulation towards commonly found interfering ions during selenium analysis.

On-site detection of selenium in water
