Title:

Community Level Fluoride Removal Plant

Value Proposition:

This defluoridation plant is fabricated in order to supply fluoride free drinking water in fluoride affected areas. Almost 143 districts in India have been affecting by Fluoride contamination. Removal of fluoride from drinking water is of utmost importance for the improvement of lives in rural India.

A combination of oxidation, gravitational settling and chemisorption process has been applied for removal of excess fluoride from fluoride contaminated ground water

Applications: Environmental (Clean Tech.) : Water Treatment.

Summary Application:

Salient features of the technology:

  • Multi-stage gravitational based community defluoridation plant
  • Cartridges are comprised of naturally available sand, gravels along with R & D modified multifunctional natural adsorbents
  • Flow rate ~  700L/ hour
  • Storage capacity ~ 1000 L
  • Attachable to Mark-II hand pump ( non-electricity based) [Optional]
  • Simple in design-operation and maintenance
  • It can reduce F- concentration from ~ 8 ppm  to below 1.5 ppm
  • Defluoridation plant comprising of naturally abundant adsorbents materials in the market is unavailable till now. So the developed filtration plant will be very much effective in commercialization.
  • The developed prototype may be deployed in several govt. sectors like school, colleges, hospitals etc in the fluoride affected areas in West Bengal through different Govt. /NGOs.
  • The technology has been transferred to 5 Indian Industries in non-excl. basis.
  • Application:Environmental (Clean Tech.) - Water treatment.
Advantages:

Provides fluoride free water to the rural masses reducing F-concentration from ~8 ppm to below 1.5 ppm having flow rate~700L/Hr and storage capacity~1000L.
