Summary Application:

Our spectral model accurately predicts leaf chlorophyll content using reflectance values recorded from plant leaves at two specific wavelengths. This model has been successfully validated using spectroradiometer-acquired spectral data and laboratory-estimated chlorophyll values, achieving an impressive 92% predictive accuracy. We aim to develop a compact, field deployable device that Measures leaf reflectance at the identified two key wavelengths, applies our established mathematical model for real-time chlorophyll estimation, and displays the chlorophyll content directly on the device’s screen.

Advantages:
  • This invention provides absolute (mg/gram) 'total chlorophyll' contents in the leaves, which is true representation of chlorophyll values determined in the wet laboratory.
  • The index can be embedded in an electronic device for direct and onsite estimation.
  • Index can also be used for drone or satellite images for chlorophyll estimation at canopy level.
