Development of Ceramic Cutting Tool Directly from Ores/Minerals

At present, none of the industries in India are manufacturing ceramic cutting tools. These are mainly imported from US, China, and Europe and marketed in India. Therefore, there is special need to develop cutting tool indigenously aiming for small scale industries. In this regard attempts have been made and black ceramic cutting tool was successfully prepared through plasma processing route using beach sand mineral and alumina.
