| Title: | Development of Paver Block Using Slag Cement and Recycled Concrete Aggregate |
| Value Proposition: | Paver block is an environment-friendly and labour intensive technology which is widely used in many countries to solve special-purpose paving problems. One major advantage of using concrete paving blocks is that they can be re-assembled easily using many construction patterns. Reduction of cement requirement and utilisation of industrial waste has more beneficial. An investigation is conducted to develop paver blocks with partial replacement of slag cement by rice husk ash (15 % in weight) and Recycled concrete aggregate varying from 25 % to 75 % to natural aggregate. Construction and Demolition waste has utilised as partial replacement of natural aggregate. The demand of the RCA in construction industry is high due to shortage of natural aggregates. The recycled concrete aggregates are transported from short distance at minimum cost. The paver block gets naturally block colour and minimum use of colouring pigment. |
| Summary Application: | Wide range of applications for pathways, vehicle parking sites, cycle ways and for motor ways. The developed paver block is suitable for both light weight to heavy weight vehicle usage. Paver block using Recycled Concrete Aggregate has good potential for commercialisation. |
