 Technology Profile

Title:

DNA Technology for Species Identification in Bird-hit Cases

Value Proposition:

Identifiying bird species which are usually involved in airplane strikes is useful in reducing the incidence of bird strikes & the damage caused by it (both life & material).

Summary Application:

DNA-based method for identification of birds in bird-hit cases, helps in avoiding birds hits on jets and other aircrafts, and thereby, saving lives and valuable national assets.

Advantages:

DNA based identification is a sensitive & accurate method for species identification, mostly offerring advantages over conventional morphological observations.
