Title:

Dozer Push Mining Method

Value Proposition:

The major objective of the study is to recommend the blast design for the implementation of dozer-push mining method. This objective is to be achieved in two phases. Preliminary blast design based on numerical simulation and theoretical concepts have already been suggested in the 1st phase of the study. In 2nd phase, 8-10 trial blasts are to be conducted based on the suggested preliminary design and the possible modifications in these designs. The outcomes of the trial blasts will be analysed and the final recommendation on blast design will be for the implementation of Dozer Push Mining Method.

Summary Application:

CSIR-CIMFR has achieved a significant milestone by successfully conducting the trial blasts for the implementation of Dozer Push Mining Method for the first-ever in India. The 1st trial blast was already conducted on 25th December, 2024 at PEKB Coal Mine of M/s Adani Enterprises Limited located near Ambikapur, Chhattisgarh. To understand the various technical aspect in Indian mining condition, deliberation was made at different forum in last 2 years.

In this technology, mining will be done using unmanned machines. In 1st trial blast, 108 holes were drilled by automated drill machine (man less), in which cast/throw blasting using 60 tons of bulk emulsion explosives was successfully conducted. Further, the blasted material will be pushed in decoaled area using automated specifically designed big size dozer machine.

Advantages:
  • Faster recovery of coal in comparison to shovel-dumper and Dragline machine mining approach.
  • Truck-shovel mining method reduces productivity and safety due to mud in haul road during rainy season, in that situation dozer push mining method can be a good alternative to excavation.
  • The Dozer push mining method can be a good alternative to dragline and truck/shovel excavation. It can also speed up the utilization of the dragline machine, thereby reducing the unit cost rate of the dragline.
