| Abstract: | Natural icing or ice accretion/adhesion is categorized as a potential hazard for aviation, maritime, transportation, natural energy harvesting, and power transmission sectors. The ice accretion/adhesion deteriorates the efficiency, causes failure and economic losses, consumes a large quantity of energy for ice removal, and, most significantly essential, causes safety risks. Among the vast literature published online on anti-icing or de-icing solutions, the icephobic coating solution attracts much attention in fulfilling the industry's requirements. The present invention relates to developing non-hazardous, economical coating material and coating with anti-icing properties using an optimized HVOF deposition parameter and examining the relationship of ice-phobicity with water-repellence. More specifically, it relates to the development of a (Cu-Al-Ni)-B-PTFE of powder of 58-06-36 volume fraction and its coating over the steel substrate for marine equipment, bridges, pipes, heat exchanger, UAV structure to mitigate the negative impacts of icing or delay/withstand the icing-related phenomenon. |
