Abstract:
The present invention provides a thin film electrode-catalyst of general formula formula Q14[P5W30O110Na]. This thin film is casted on an electrode chip of  potentiostat and when electrode potential is applied to the device water gives O2. The thin film is prepared by direct transfer of catalytic thin film on the electrode  substrates to avoid the use of cost intensive and needless binder like Nafion. The electro-catalytic thin film based electrodes showed prolonged stability of minimum  1000 cycles in alkaline water and seawater, without degradation. The present strategy addresses the long-standing problem associated with electrocatalysts like stability,  aggregation, precipitation, degradation, and leaching in seawater and alkaline water. The catalysts described herein exhibit low over-potentials at 10 mAcm2, rapid  migration of electrons, and better turn over frequencies compared to prior art catalysts. Formula 1
