 Technology Profile

Title:

Energy Efficient Coke Brass and Bell Metal Melting Furnace

Value Proposition:

Development of  technique with minimum alterations in the existing traditional coke based brass metal and Bell metal melting furnance with minimum energy consumption(coke), less suspended particulate matter, Zn vapour flue and maximum output.

Summary Application:

The technology focuses on new fuel efficient brass melting furnance. Since the existing traditional brass melting furnaces are fuel inefficient. And also the operators are exposed to toxic flue gases and the flue contains high suspended particulate matter (SPM) resulting serious health hazard for the artisans. These also contribute to atmospheric pollution.Hence new furnance  have advances like a) ~ 20% reduction in coke consumption; b) ~ 80% less suspended particulate matter (SPM) and Zn vapour in flue; c) Reduction in melting cycle which attributes for -25% increase in productivity;       d) Minimum alteration of existing operating practices of traditional brass melting furnace; e) Construction by using locally available materials. The melting of brass is suitable for application in artisans engaged in producing brass, and bell metal artifacts.

Advantages:
  • Less C02 emission
  • Less suspended particulate matter (SPM) and less effect on Zn vapour on human body
  • Minimum environmental harzardous
  • ~ 20% reduction in coke consumption
  • ~ 80% less suspended particulate matter (SPM) and Zn vapour in flue
  • Reduction in melting cycle which attributes for -25% increase in productivity
  • Minimum alteration of existing operating practices of traditional brass melting furnace
  • Construction by using locally available materials.
