| Abstract: | Fluorine-free Superhydrophobic/ Superoleophilic Coated Foam and the Process Thereof The present invention discloses a novel method for utilizing eggshell wastes to fabricate a superhydrophobic and superoleophilic coated polyurethane foam. And, more particularly, developing a process to synthesize for the use as adsorbent of oil from oil water mixture. This foam exhibited superhydrophobicity with water contact angle of above 150° and superoleophilicity with oil contact angle less than 10°, along with stability against temperature, salt concentration, and UV exposure. The synthesized foam showed adsorption capacity for various oils and chemical solvents of 12-63 g/g and effectively separated oils from both surface and underwater environments. Overall, the proposed process offers a holistic approach that combines sustainable sourcing of raw materials, innovative chemical modifications, and superior wetting characteristics enabling efficient oil-water separation, highlighting its significant advantages over existing methods. |
